From the Emperor’s Table to Yours
Founded in 1847 by Anton and Barbara Gerstner, this patisserie quickly gained a reputation for its exquisite desserts and confections, earning the prestigious title of K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäcker—Imperial and Royal Court Confectioner. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Gerstner was tasked with creating elaborate desserts for imperial banquets, cementing its place as one of Vienna’s most distinguished establishments.

Over the decades, Gerstner has evolved while maintaining its strong connection to tradition. Today, it operates both as a café and luxury patisserie, serving locals and tourists alike. The second-floor salon, with its ornate interiors and views of the State Opera, offers an immersive experience of Viennese elegance, while the ground floor houses a shop filled with beautifully packaged chocolates, truffles, and other confections.
