The Garden, the Name, the Idea
Lucullus takes its name from Lucius Licinius Lucullus, a Roman general best known for his legendary banquets and love of luxurious food. True to its namesake, the restaurant embraces a creative fusion of Austrian and Mediterranean influences- thoughtful, high-quality, and seasonally driven – striking a balance between relaxed comfort and a touch of lavish flair.
Located in one of Vienna’s quieter but refined neighborhoods, Lucullus first opened its doors with a mission to bring together Austrian and Mediterranean flavors in a fresh way. Instead of sticking rigidly to one cuisine, the menu is structured around what’s seasonal and available from trusted producers. The result is a kitchen that’s flexible and creative, but always rooted in simplicity and flavor.

The restaurant has evolved over time, building a loyal local following – especially among those who live nearby or work in the nearby embassies. Its garden has become one of its defining features, offering something rare in central Vienna: quiet outdoor dining without traffic or tourist crowds. Inside, it’s elegant and relaxed, with small design touches that keep it interesting without being overwhelming.
