Muvamo Opinion

Ribelli is one of those places that’s easy to like. It has a relaxed, lively atmosphere and serves good Italian food without making a big fuss about it. Even though it’s inside the 25hours Hotel near MuseumsQuartier, it doesn’t feel like a typical hotel restaurant. It’s busy with locals too, especially in the evenings, which is always a good sign. The space has a cool, urban style with an open kitchen and a big pizza oven right in the middle of the action. It’s a lively spot, especially in the evenings, and works well for groups, date nights, or a casual dinner after exploring the city.

The menu focuses on simple, traditional Italian dishes – the kind of food people in Italy eat every day. Nothing fancy, just well-made classics like pizza, pasta, and antipasti. The ingredients are clearly high quality, and the portions are generous without being too much. You can tell that a lot of care goes into the food, but it still feels casual and easygoing.

In summer, the outdoor terrace is a great spot to sit, enjoy the Italian food and relax.

And even though it’s popular, it doesn’t feel overly touristy. You’ll notice a good mix of locals and visitors. Ribelli is great for a laid-back dinner, a casual lunch, or even just a drink and a few snacks in the evening.

About

Ribelli is part of the 25hours Hotel group’s in-house restaurant concept. The idea was to bring an urban version of Italian “cucina popolare” to a wider audience – food that’s rooted in tradition but stripped of pretension. Rather than serving overly complicated dishes, the focus is on using top-quality ingredients in simple, satisfying ways.

The Vienna location, which opened alongside the hotel, takes inspiration from classic Italian trattorias but gives it a modern, Vienna-ready edge. Think open kitchens, wood-fired ovens, industrial lighting, and a lively atmosphere that draws both travelers and locals.

What makes Ribelli stand out is its commitment to authenticity without the fuss. Ribelli uses top-quality Italian ingredients, with many of its products sourced from Italy, including Italian tomatoes, flour, and olive oil to ensure authentic flavors. Its pizzas are Neapolitan in style, baked in high-temperature ovens that create a soft, slightly charred crust typical of this tradition. Pastas are cooked al dente (as they should be), and the antipasti offerings may vary throughout the year based on freshness and availability.

Ribelli doesn’t aim to be a fine-dining Italian restaurant. Instead, it leans into a contemporary version of comfort food, served in a fun, social space. The Vienna location has gained a local following thanks to its vibrant atmosphere and efforts to attract both travelers and residents with events and themed dining experiences. It’s a good reminder that sometimes, a proper pizza and a glass of wine are all you really need.
